Yesterday Europe didn’t just give the Irish government a telling off, they are looking for them to make Apple pay €13 billion with a possible futher €6 billion.
The European Commission said Ireland gave “selective treatment” which allowed Apple pay a tax rate of just 1% on its European Union profits.
The findings are a result of the culmination of a three-year investigation by Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager into tax arrangements for Apple, dating back 25 years.
They ruling indicates that for every €1 million Apple earned, they paid €50 in tax.
