There are reports this morning that RTE is considering scrapping the open Eurosong competition, selecting a candidate internally instead. However, these reports remain unconfirmed at this stage.
Ireland’s results at the Eurovision contest have been mixed since the open Eurosong contest was introduced.
Our contestants failed to qualify final in 2008, 2009, 2014 and 2015.
However, Ireland did make it to the final in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
