Russian fighter who was awarded victory over Michael Conlon reportedly unable to take part in semi final due to extensive facial injuries

According to reports this morning the Russian boxer who was awarded victory over Michael Conlan in the Olympic quarter finals will not be able to take part in his coming semi final fight due to extensive injuries.

Fighter Vladimir Nikitin is allegedly unable to compete due to a number of facial injuries he received against Conlon in the previous bout.

The news was broke late last night when freelance writer and boxing coach Sarah Deming, revealed that Billy Walsh, head coach of Team USA said that he believed the fight will not take place later today.

However the news would not mean a reprive for Conlan, as USA teenager Shakur Stevenson would recieve a walkover into the gold medal final instead.
