Ryanair hints at plans to offer free domestic flights for Greek passengers

The airline has stepped up to do its bit for the embattled Greek nation.

Ryanair has today called on the country’s authorities to back plans for free flights on some domestic routes for the next two weeks.

Assuming that aviation authorities agree to scrap airport fees, Ryanair will offer free flights on routes connecting Athens to Chania, Rhodes, and Thessaloniki, starting on July 13.

Last week, the airline announced that Greek customers would be able to purchase tickets using cash, as cards are now routinely denied due to stringent capital controls.

Airline boss Michael O’Leary has referred to the Greek crisis as a “tragedy.”
