Ryanair say a strike is unnecessary for pilots who earn between €150,000 and €200,000 per year

Ryanair have come out swinging in the latest industrial action to get underway.

It’s understood that 24 flights have been cancelled for this coming Friday with all those affected being notified by text or email. If you haven’t received either then your flight should be ok but it’s better off to check beforehand.

According to RTE however, Ryanair say it’s unnecessary for the pilots to strike. They released a statement as reported by the Mirror saying that their pilots enjoy the best working conditions of perhaps any group of Irish workers

“Sadly, 24 flights between Ireland and the UK . . .will be cancelled because a quarter of our Irish pilots (who earn between €150,000 to 200,000 per annum and enjoy the best working conditions of perhaps any group of Irish workers) want to pursue a set of demands which they don’t understand and can’t explain, because they are drafted by a tiny handful of Aer Lingus pilots,”.
