Councillor Joe Crowley has tragically died tonight while out canvassing for Fianna Fáil TD Willie O’Dea in Limerick.
Councillor Joe Crowley passed away shortly after 7pm. Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin said he was “very shocked” to hear of Crowley’s death.
Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Limerick Jerry O’Dea said the entire county is in shock.
It’s understood Mr Crowley had been sick for some time.
“He was young man with children. He was a very amenable councillor, and very much had the people of the area at his heart.”, O’Dea said.
Many candidates from all parties have issued their sympathy for the tragedy.
