Tens of thousands of people walked through the streets of Dublin today to both protest against any change to the Eighth Amendment and also to honour the thousands of unborn babies who have been saved by the Eighth Amendment and who will be saved if the Eighth Amendment remains.

Organisers of the SaveThe8th Save8Rally say that as many as 100,000 people walked from Parnell Square down through O’Connell Street and right way the way up to Fitzwilliam Square.

The Eighth Amendment is the amendment in the constitution that gives equal rights to born the mother and her baby, it states that the unborn baby has an equal right to life as its mother.

Pro Life attendees of today’s rally told The Liberal:
“We’re going to win because the majority of people in Ireland respect all life both born and unborn. Abortion does one thing and one thing only, it ends a human being’s life. Babies have no voice and we must be their voice and vote to keep the Eighth Amendment”.
