Hundreds of people across Ireland have taken to social media to voice their concern about mysterious calls they received today.

Numbers with a prefix of +231, +269, +212 and +1 (Canada, not America) have been calling random people in an effort to get people to call them back using a callback service that charges at a premium rate and can will charge your phone bill or credit at an enormous rate.

One of the Liberal’s own female journalists received a call from Chad earlier this afternoon.

The numbers to avoid are:
+1 (Unless you know the person calling you from America or Canada)
+225 Ivory Coast
+212 Morocco
+233 Ghana
+235 Chad
+269 Comoros

People are strongly advised to NOT answer these numbers, share the information with their friends and family and block the numbers if possible.
