Scandalous: Patients needing urgent brain surgery are turned away from Beaumont Hospital

beaumont2

As our so-called ‘democratic’ government suckles off Apple’s teat and fights tooth and nail for the company to keep the 13bn it owes the taxman, patients in dire need of surgery are being told they have to go home and wait a while.

It has emerged today that the national neurosurgical centre in Beaumont had no beds for nine patients presenting with malignant brain tumours as of last Friday. As a consequence, the people were sent home, where their condition is likely to deteriorate rapidly if no treatment is forthcoming, and death may occur as they wait.

The decrepit and dilapidated state of our health system is further given away by the latest figures of patients languishing on trolleys nationwide during the month of August: 6,000.

Liam Doran, General Secretary of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), said: “It’s appalling and an indictment on Irish society…We do not have a public health service that’s fit for purpose.”
