According to reports this morning a number of secondary schools across the could be closed for at least a day in the coming weeks ahead in order to hold parent-teacher meetings during school hours.
The meetings which are normally held out of school hours, will now be held within the normal school day as the (ASTI) have confirmed they will not hold the meetings outside of school hours due to ongoing industrial action over pay and education reforms.
The stance taken by teachers nationwide could now mean 500 secondary schools will be closed in the lead up to hugely important examinations.
Meanwhile the department of education have said they will notify parents of any future changes.
