Gardai in Co Clare are understood to be conducting a major search for two Japanese tourists who went missing last weekend.
However Gardai have said they are currently not treating the couples disappearance as a missing persons case at the present time. Gardai also say they are following a line of enquiries after a car, believed to have been hired by a the couple in their 60’s, was located at Byrnes Cove in Kilkee earlier yesterday afternoon.
Meanwhile members of the Kilkee unit of the Irish Coast Guard have been conducting a number of land searches since yesterday evening whilst the Shannon based Irish Coast Guard helicopter has also been sweeping the area in order to try and find the couple.
