A man managed to jump the perimeter fence and walk through the door of the building before being apprehended by security staff.
The White House was evacuated last night after Oscar Gonzalez somehow managed to bypass security and almost enter the main building. The incident took place just minutes after the president and his family had departed by helicopter.
Gonzalez was unarmed and unharmed, but was taken to a nearby hospital when he complained of chest pains. He was charged with unlawful entry.
