There has been a major security threat uncovered at Westminster today after a parliamentary spokesperson confirmed there has been cyber attack on the Government’s IT network.
According to reports in the UK there has been unauthorized attempts to access parliamentary user accounts with a number of ministers and Government staff being unable to access their emails in the past 24 hours.
Speaking about the cyber attack a parliamentary spokesperson said the following: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and take further measures to secure the computer network, liaising with the National Cyber Security Centre.”
“We have systems in place to protect member and staff accounts and are taking the necessary steps to protect our systems.”
It is not yet known who is responsible for the hack nor where it has emanated from.
