Security efforts stepped up for Gun’s and Roses Slane Castle concert in the wake of Manchester Arena attack

Secure efforts have been stepped up for this Saturday’s Slane Concert Gardaí have confirmed.

The heightened security which will see 400 Gardaí and 1,200 security personnel being placed during the highly anticipated Gun’s and Roses concert comes after last night’s attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

Gardaí say they are fully preparing for the event which will also see an on-site hospital setup on the day. It is widely expected that security fears will be elevated in the wake of the latest terrorist attack which claimed the lives of 22 young people and injured 59 others.

In a statement Gardaí say: “An Garda Síochána will have over 400 members on duty, including specialist units, who will be supported by an additional 1,200 Security/Stewards provided by licensed security companies together with a full complement of doctors and medical teams, including an on-site hospital along with five first aid posts.”

“The Event Control Management Team overseeing this event have over 25 years experience within their fields of expertise.”

“We request that all fans attending the concert are fully aware of the Public Information Notice (in particular the Do and Do Not lists) published on www.garda.ie .”

“Please co-operate fully with Gardaí and stewards and follow any loudspeaker announcements as this will help ensure the safety and enjoyment for all concerned.”
