Series of stoppages to be held at the nations hospitals on the 30th of January as INMO reveals strike dates

The INMO have confirmed that a 24 hour stoppage will be held on the 30th of January.

In a move that could potentially see a number of stoppages at the nations hospitals, the INMO said 37,000 of its staff will hold stoppages later this month.

The strike action which could lead to further stoppages in February comes as the union is in a disagreement with the Government over pay and staffing levels.

The INMO say they believe that a 12% increase to its staff across the board would persuade more nurses to stay in their profession and therefore reduce growing staff shortages at hospitals across the country.

However the Government have claimed that such a pay increase is not feasible as it would impact on other bodies in the public sector.

The Government say an increase would require them to increase pay for other public sector workers and that the current surplus would fall short of covering the overall costs.

Meanwhile the INMO also say further work stoppages are planned for the 5 and 7 February, and then on the 12, 13 and 14 February, if no agreement is reached.
