A rather large python snake met an untimely end in Indonesia, after villagers captured it and fried it to create a culinary delight for a local feast.

The serpent was first spotted in an oil palm plantation in the Batang Gansal district of Sumatra.

The monster reptile, measuring almost 26ft from end to end, first engaged two locals in a titanic struggle, almost ripping off one of the villagers’ arms.

Strength in numbers prevailed in the end, however, and the python ended up quartered and fried for dinner. The entire village was reportedly able to partake in the feast.

Large sized python snakes are commonly found in Indonesian regions.
