Local authorities are reporting severe flooding in downtown Miami, after Hurricane Irma dumped heavy rain on the area.
The superstorm is now set to take a course northwards, straddling Florida’s west coast. The cities of Naples and Tampa are bracing for Irma’s onslaught.
The weather system, now officially a Category 3 storm, has carved a path of devastation across the Caribbean before making landfall on the US mainland.
Up 36 million living in the State of Florida are facing disruption and the imminent danger of savage winds and life-threatening storm surges.
