Shane Ross apologises for any upset he may have caused after visiting constituents on Christmas and New Year’s Eve

The Minister for Transport Shane Ross has issued an apology to people living in his constituency after a number of residents voiced their concerns about him canvassing on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

According to The Irish Sun newspaper, Ross made the apology after a number of people called RTÉ’s Liveline programme to inform listeners what had occurred in previous weeks.

The Transport Minister was criticised for his behaviour after a number of people in his constituency of Dublin Rathdown described his behaviour as bizare and quite unusual.

However in response to the recent news, Minister Ross apologised after a few residents said they felt scared as they didn’t know who was on the other side of the door late in the evening.

Mr Ross said that it was not his intention to scare anyone and said that he only wanted to meet people and say hello.

The Independent TD also said that he decided to make the house calls as they are important and although his calls were made in the dark he felt they were appropriate as he had no time during daylight hours.

He added some people were quite pleased to see me even though they were initially surprised upon opening the door.
