The legendary Katie Taylor has won her first first world professional title after defeating Argentina’s Anahi Esther Sanchez in Cardiff this evening.
Sanchez had already lost her title on the scales at yesterday’s weigh-in having weighed just one pound over the 135lb lightweight limit.
Taylor however had everything to win. Coming out to the ring to ACDC’s Thunderstruck, she dominated early on but slowed the pace as the fight went on.
The judges called the fight 99-90 in Taylor’s favour.
The Bray woman thanked God, her fans and said she was over the moon and couldn’t believe it.
