There’s shock and disbelief in Cork today after a 36-yr-old man received a deadly punch last night in a pub in the city.

It’s understood Paddy O’Donnell of Stag Park, Ballindangan Road, Mitchelstown was involved in an altercation in the Willie Andies pub at New Square in Mitchelstown with a 27-yr-old man.

Locals are saying Paddy O’Donnell received a punch to the head that saw him collapse, but gardai have not confirmed this local story.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene but were unable to revive the Corkman.

A 27-yr-old man is currently being interviewed at Fermoy Garda Station where he is currently being questioned by detectives.

Gardai have advised people to be very careful out at night and to walk away from altercations. They also said to never strike someone as it could end up as a fatal injury.
