A Maltese journalist who was instrumental in exposing the so called “Panama Papers” which refers over 11 million leaked financial documents that were taken from a Panamanian Law Firm and leaked anonymously in 2015, has been assassinated by a car bomb in Malta.
Daphne Caruana Galizia (52) had helped expose the exploitation of tax loopholes and havens by some of the world’s most powerful individuals, including politicians, dictators, gangsters, celebrities and bankers.
Even Hillary Clinton was rounded on for her connections to the Panama Papers by her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders.
It is known that Galizia had received threats days before she was killed in the targeted bombing.
