Shocking: Anger on social media after Britain’s The Sun Newspaper publishes sickening headline to mark the tragic passing of boxing great Muhammad Ali

The world is still in shock today after the tragic passing of boxing legend Muhammad Ali on Saturday morning, and everyone from the general public to the media have paid tribute to the great man in their own unique way, but one particular newspaper has caused controversy once again with their tasteless headline.

This morning’s front pages across the globe have paid tribute to the boxing legend who tragically passed away aged 74 in hospital bed in Phoenix, Arizona, in the early hours of Saturday morning after he was admitted to hospital following respiratory issues on Thursday afternoon.

However the tributes by the world’s media to Ali who has become a global icon were all considered acceptable by the reading public, until one British newspaper who are no strangers to controversy once again caused pandemonium on social media today after their shocking and distasteful headline to mark the boxing legend’s tragic death.

The Sun newspaper who infamously wrote an unjustified and disgraceful article about the victims of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989, once again caused outrage amongst the British public after they marked the tragic death of the arguably the greatest sportstsar of all time with a headline that many have considered sickening and highly distasteful.

The newspaper who have seemingly not learned from their past discrepancies, have left a sour taste in many people’s mouths after they marked Ali’s death with the headline ‘Float like a butterfly and sting like R.I.P.’. The papers disgusting headline saw many flock to social media to voice their disgust at the scandalous writing of a supposed tribute to the boxing great and all round gentleman.

One disgruntled and angry Twitter user wrote: ‘If anyone wants to see how bad the British media is, have a look at The Sun front page about Ali’. Whilst another wrote: ‘There are very interesting front pages and stories about Muhammed Ali and there is The Sun’s front page …disgusting as always’.

The newspaper has yet to give an explanation for it’s truly shocking headline, but it will surely cause more controversy in the coming days ahead.
