New CSO figures show that there was a 25% increase on kidnapping related offences in Ireland last year.
The Central Statistics Office figures show that there was also a significant 75% rise in the number of cases of false imprisonment.
Figures show a 15% rise in the number of sexual offences including a 12.6% increase in cases of rape. However there were decreases of almost 30% in the number of murders and manslaughters.
These figures were taken from the recently released fourth quarter crime statistics on the CSO.
