Shocking: Ruthless thugs badly beat lone female driver in terrifying roadside robbery in Co Waterford

Gardai in Co Waterford have launched an investigation after a female driver was disgracefully attacked by two men on the coast road between Tramore and Dungarvan.

It is understood the woman, who is in her 40s, had been badly beaten and left severely traumatised after the terrifying attack which took place at 8.20am on Friday, January 22. Gardaí say the woman who was driving alone was set upon after she heard a loud bang when something hit her car. The concerned woman feared that she had ran someone over when she saw a man “falling into a ditch” at the side of the road in her rearview mirror.

It is believed that the woman quickly stopped her car to check and see if the man was ok, but she was quickly grabbed by another thug who then proceeded to drag her from the car and brutally beat her with a number of kicks and punches. The distraught woman also said that one of thugs, believed to be a non-national, pinned her to the bonnet of the car whilst the other man searched the vehicle for valuables. Gardai say a handbag and mobile phone were stolen during the ordeal. The two assailants then subsequently fled the scene on foot before the woman was able to drive to nearby Tramore Garda Station where she alerted the Gardaí.

Gardai say they are currently appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact them at Tramore Garda Station on (051) 391 620.
