26-yr-old David Gavin from Castlebar, Co. Mayo is still missing in Canada after he went swimming with friends on Friday and failed to return to land.
It’s understood that the Mayo man, who played Gaelic football with Breaffy, went to Canada a number of months ago to seek work.
It’s believed that Mr Gavin had been diving in a river in the Beaver Creek area, which is around 130 miles west of Calgary in the Canadian Rockies.
It’s understood that the Royal Canadian Police has been in contact with the man’s family and friends and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
