In a shocking report released this week, up to 3 in 5 Irish people have a very heavy drinker in their lives.
According to RTE News, thhe Untold Story: Harms Experienced in the Irish Population due to Others Drinking report shows that those most affected are women and children on a very low income, separated people and single parents.
The report has been compiled over a 3 year period and has taken all demographics and social and economic factors into consideration. The cost of care, days off work, rows, hospital bills and other costs of heavy drinking in Ireland is estimated at €860 million a year.
