Dublin North-West TD Noel Rock has apologised for his actions after he posted a rather controversial tweet over the weekend.
Rock who also apologised to Solidarity TD Paul Murphy after he shared an image which contained images of Murphy’s face, was the subject of widespread criticism after he made a joke about the Citywest/Fortunestown looting incident which occurred on Friday.
The Fine Gael TD who has since apologised and practically grovelled for forgiveness from all corners, shared an image showing the looters along with an image of Murphy, before writing the caption “A theoretical assessment of what happened in Tallaght that I found on social media-.
Although Rock claimed he only shared the tweet as a paraody, his actions were not found to be funny in the slightest by many on social media who said his comments were insensitive, tasteless and insulting to the people of Tallaght.
Rock subsequently appeared to run for cover and deleted his tweet presumably before his colleague the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar saw it – however The Liberal managed to obtain a screenshot before Rock got a chance to delete it. His public apology on Twitter is also embedded below:
