Gardaí in Co Offaly have launched an investigation after an elderly man was tied up and beaten at his home.
The sickening attack which occurred during a home robbery on Kildangan, Durrow on Monday night between the hours of 8 and 9pm has left the 77 year-old man badly shaken.
Garda say the elderly man who also received a number of injuries in the attack, was tied up by three men who entered the property on Monday evening.
The three men proceeded to attack the pensioner before they demanded money.
All three assailants escaped the seen a short time later, although it is not known what was stolen during the burglary.
