Gardai in Co Meath have confirmed that an investigation is underway after a man aged in his 90’s was disgracefully attacked in his home on Wednesday night.
Gardai say the appalling incident occurred at approximately 8.15pm on Wednesday evening in the Balrath area of Co Meath. It is believed that four men armed with sticks forced their way into the pensioner’s home and subjected him to a horrific beating after they demanded cash from him.
The assailants were all described as being 6ft tall and wearing dark clothing, with peaked caps and scarves covering their faces. It is understood that two men who were known to the victim also called to the pensioners home and they were set upon by the gang.
Gardai say all three men were then subsequently tied up by the ruthless thugs before they escaped with a large quantity of cash and mobile phones.
There has been no word as of yet regarding the extent of the injuries the elderly man suffered during the vicious attack.
