Police authorities in India have launched an investigation after a four-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped at a hospital.
The horrific attack which is the latest of a number of sexual assaults carried out on women and young children in the country, apparently occurred at hospital which is located 155 miles southwest of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports in India, the young girl was attacked by a hospital attendant and three others whilst she was being treated in an ICU Unit on Saturday night.
Police investigating the incident say the girl who was being treated for a snake bite when the alleged attack occurred.
It is understood the infant told her grandmother what had happened to her, which prompted the girl’s grandmother to inform police.
Officers say that they have arrested one man and currently searching three others.
It is also understood that authorities are questioning why the infant was left alone in the ICU.
