Once known around the world for her numerous hit songs, today, Sinead O’Connor’s music career seems to play second fiddle to her personal life.
The South Dublin singer has caused outrage online after she claimed on Twitter that she no longer wants to spend any time with “disgusting white people” now that she’s a Muslim.
O’Connor now wants to be referred to as Shuhada’ Davitt because she converted to Islam quite recently.
She has since apologised for her “racist” tweet but said that “I never wanna spend time with white people again”.
She branded “white people” or “non-Muslims” as disgusting controversially adding: “interesting to see if Twitter bans this”.
Other tweets from the Muslim singer included the hashtag #NotAsF*****CrazyAsSheLooks
Her comments have been met with a massive backlash with one user saying simply:
“You’re disgusting too then, because you’re also white”.
Davitt’s comments included saying that she never wants to spend time with white people again, not for one moment, for any reason. They are disgusting.
