Sinn Fein party to reject any pay increase for politicians – saying the recovery currently being seen in Ireland is a ”two-tier one”

The Sinn Fein party have revealed earlier today that none of its TDs will accept any pay increase, even if the Government’s recent motion calling for salary increase’s for all parties passes in the Dáil.

The party’s stance comes after they submitted their own motion calling for any proposals that would see politicians’ wages increase to be immediately scrapped.

In the motion the party state that “the legacy of eight years of cuts to pay and public services continues to place enormous pressure on ordinary people and households”.

The party also say the recovery currently being seen in Ireland is a ”two-tier” one, and that the “majority of households have yet to see any discernible difference in their everyday lives”.
