In a move that practically no one could foresee, the Sinn Fein Presidential candidate Liadh Ni Riada was put on the spot on last night’s Claire Byrne Live presidential debate about whether or not she would be willing to wear a poppy to remember all those brave soldiers who died in the Great War and World War II.
To the surprise of almost everyone, Ni Riada said that she would be willing to wear a poppy on Armistice day, coincidentally the day of the Presidential inauguration.
This move has been seen by many as a positive move towards a more friendly Ireland for all.
