A new survey has revealed that smoking rates in this country are falling faster than in any other country in Europe.
Ireland currently has the fourth lowest smoking rate in the EU, according to data released by an European commission. The data shows that while tobacco use is declining in general across Europe, it has fallen four times faster than average here.
The survey also shows that Irish smokers are now consuming fewer cigarettes. The average is now 14 a day, down from 16 in 2012.
