Snakes on an (Irish) field: Donegal farmer faces down the unthinkable after encountering a snake while checking on his herd

A Donegal farmer came face to face with a slithering terror while checking on his cows.

The farmer, who was walking along a field of green and minding his own business at the time,
encountered a hissing nightmare in the form of a Corn Snake. Shaken at the ungodly sight of such a
reptile roaming free across Irish lands after the Great St. Patrick’s Purge, he wrestled the snake
into a bag and took it to a pet shop.

It was determined that the animal, which belongs to a docile species and is harmless to humans, had probably been kept in captivity. The punishing Irish weather would have finished it off quickly, had it not been for the farmer’s chance encounter.

The pet shop is now looking for the rightful owner of the beast, while the farmer has gone back to his land, scratching his chin quizzically at the whole St. Patrick thing.
