Ireland may have enjoyed milder conditions over the past few days, but it seems the cold spell is set to return this week with temperatures set to plummet.
According to Met Éireann the country will experience some wintery conditions over the course of the week as hail, sleet and even snow are expected.
The national forecaster also say temperatures are expected to drop below sub zero with widespread frost expected in most places overnight.
Forecasters say that although Monday will remain largely during the day, the cold snap will return as temperatures are expected to drop as low as -2 overnight.
Tuesday will be a much colder day as rainfall is expected in the North West, it is expected these showers will soon turn wintery with sleet and snow expected especially on high ground in the evening.
Met Éireann say the worst of cold weather is expected on Wednesday with temperatures reaching no high than 5C, whilst hail and snow is expected across the country.
