Snow on the way?: Forecasters predict the UK and Ireland could be hit by a severe polar blast at the end of November

Ireland and the UK could very well be set for another cold blast with heavy snowfall and freezing conditions predicted from the end of the month onwards.

According to The Express newspaper, Britain and quite possibly Ireland could be hit with a cold blast that will see temperatures plunge beginning from next week.

It is understood that the cold snap could kick in from as early as next week as a cold blast is expected to sweep down from the North Pole and Northern Scandinavia.

Speaking to The Express, Piers Corbyn, forecaster for WeatherAction, said the cold snap could be one of the worst to hit British Isles in recent years with long range forecasts showing that it could possibly last until early in the new year.

Corbyn said the polar blast is expected to sweep down towards Scotland with snow showers and blizzards expected from the end of November and the beginning of December.

The forecaster also claims that a jetstream will then pull the cold plume southward across the rest of the UK.

He also said the plume will linger across much of Northern Europe causing freezing and blizzard condition in Ireland and other European countries.

It is predicted that the cold snap will kick in from the end of next week with temperatures expected significantly drop on Friday November 23rd.
