Snow reported this morning as unseasonably cold weather takes hold for May bank holiday

Personally I can remember numerous times sitting out and enjoying a nice late April mini heatwave over the years, but that’s not to be this year.

Unseasonably cold weather has taken a severe grip of the country with temperatures up to 10c colder in places than average for this time of year.

Incredibly, reports of snow on high lying ground in County Laois have come through this morning.

Met Eireann confirmed there was a light snowfall overnight in high lying inland areas.

The snow won’t last, but cold and wet weather will see us through the weekend into next week.
