Snow will begin to fall tonight, ahead of a bitterly cold St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s weekend is fast approaching, but the weather is forecast to be anything but festive.

Friday night is forecast to be very cold, with snow beginning to fall in eastern areas as a mass of freezing air from Scandinavia moves in.

St. Patrick’s Day will be bitterly cold, with temperatures barely rising beyond 2-3C, and plunging to below zero after dark.

The wintry weather will continue through Sunday and into next week, with temperatures remaining firmly in single digits.
