In what can only be described as a free pass on last night’s Late Late Show, host Ryan Tubridy appeared to go extremely easy on the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, especially in comparison to how hard Tubridy went on Presidential candidate and free speech activist Peter Casey.
The 6ft 4″ Varadkar tripped on the step onto the stage and nearly fell down on his back only for Tubridy to grab his hand and secure him to the couch. Varadkar started off immediately by saying how he got the Eight Amendment repealed and how homeless people keep him awake at night.
The interview appeared to be somewhat smarmy with Varadkar appearing to be second guessing absolutely everything he said before talking. He almost paused for 10 seconds before answering whether the HSE was fit for purpose or not. He said that he has a plan to change the HSE, as if we haven’t heard that innumerable times before.
