Social media users were left in disarray over the last few hours as a number of apps including Facebook, Facebook messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp have stopped working.
The outrage which has affected users around the world occurred shortly after 10pm Irish time with little to no explanation offered to what caused the outage.
According to a number of users who flocked to Twitter to voice the outrage, the popular networking apps were not working.
It is understood users in North America, Europe and Australia were unable to login to their accounts or send messages.
Facebook say they are currently working to resolve the technical issue.
