South Korea confirms North Korea attempted a failed major missile launch at 10:21pm Irish time last night




South Korea confirmed late last night that they believe North Korea launched a major test missile which has been locally reported as a nuclear power.

The missile was launched in Sinpo area of the North the day after a huge military parade took place in Pyongyang.

The US military confirmed the failed launch took place at 10.21pm UK time and that the missile exploded immediately after takeoff.

South Korea’s defence ministry said: “North Korea attempted to test an unidentified type of missile from Sinpo area in the South Hamkyong Province this morning, but we suspect the launch has failed.”

The missile is said to have exploded just after lift off with North Korea still not confirming why they launched the missile in the first place.

Local media reproted that the missile was that of a nuclear power test weapon.

They failed attempt was made on the east coast of North Korea.
