Spanish court orders the exhumation of Salvador Dali’s remains on foot of paternity claim by woman

A Spanish court in the capital Madrid has ordered the exhumation of Salvador Dali’s remains, after a woman filed a paternity claim with the court.

Pilar Abel Martínez says she was born in 1956, and alleges to be the artist’s child. According to Ms. Martinez, Dali had an illicit relationship with her mother, who was working as a maid.

It is understood that Ms. Martinez has been attempting to prove that Dali is her biological father since at least 2007.

The Salvador Dali foundation is preparing legal papers to fight the exhumation order.
