Standstill: Traveling abroad to become more difficult as over a thousand flights are expected to be cancelled this week

If you are planning on traveling abroad this week, you could well see your travel plans halted as a number of flights are expected to be grounded throughout Europe due to impending industrial action.

The distruptive action comes as a number of French air traffic controllers have confirmed that they plan to go on strike in Brest and Bordeaux from 5am Monday until 7pm on Friday.

The strike action which is expected to cause widespread disruption throughout the continent, has led to number of Airline companies being forced to reduce their flight offerings by 25% as more than 1,000 flights are expected to be cancelled.

The action will also cause hassle to other member states as airliners overflying France will also be affected which in turn will make travel to and from Ireland, the UK, Italy, Switzerland and Spain more difficult.
