Stargazers Beware: Rare meteor shower to light up Irish skies tonight

Attention Stargazers! There will be a fantastic light show in Irish skies tonight as there will be a large meteor shower with 10 times more shooting stars than normal.

The rare phenomenon will occur after particles of dust from the tail of Halley’s Comet will enter the Earth’s atmosphere. Astronomy Ireland, say the spectacular Eta Aquarid event will be visible all over Ireland just before dawn, when conditions are expected to be perfect.

There will be no need for special equipment as the shooting stars will appear in any part of the sky. It might be worth getting up a little earlier to witness this amazing spectacle.
