Every two years, Mars and Earth come ‘relatively’ close to each other, however tonight the two planets will be the closest they’ve been in over a decade.
Astronomy Ireland’s chairman David Moore has invited people to come down to their Dublin headquarters to see the planet on giant telescopes. He says:
“Be it decades or centuries into the future, the future of mankind is in space.”
“There are already billionaires on Earth who are planning to put tens of thousands of people on Mars, in our lifetime.”
2I mean some of the kids looking through telescopes, there is a good chance some of them will end up living or working on Mars.”
Met Eireann have said tonight’s conditions will be decent for stargazers to get a good view
