A state of emergency has been declared in the state of North Carolina as authorities are anticipating the full force of Tropical Storm Florence.

According to US media forecasters are preparing for the worst as the storm is expected to reach hurricane strength once it reaches the shore.

Although forecasters can’t exactly predict when the storm will hit, they do say weather conditions are expected to change over the course of the weekend and early next week.

The state of emergency was called on Friday evening the state’s governor who said the public should prepare for the worst.

If the powerful storm reaches the shore, winds of 130mph or more could batter the state.
