Over 20,000 people have now contracted a strain of either the regular flu or the dreaded Aussie flu.
The outbreak was expected by the HSE but the added pressures of bed shortages mean waiting rooms are now packed across the country with people infected with the virus.
Symptoms include a fever, head cold, vomiting, aches and pains, nausea and weakness.
The public have been advised to stay in bed for a day or two and stay very well hydrated. If the symptoms don’t pass, contact a doctor on call, your GP or go to the A&E.
