Sterling sinks to a 31-year low against the dollar

pound

The trading value of the British Pound against the US dollar has sunk to its lowest point in over three decades today, slumping more than 1% yesterday alone.

The announcement made by British Prime Minister Theresa May that she will press the nuclear button and trigger Article 50 by the end of March 2017, thus initiating the countdown for Britain’s exit from the European Union, has sent markets into turmoil.

Sterling is now at a historically low value against the US dollar, trading at about $1.27 to the pound.

Yesterday marked a low point for Sterling against the Euro also, trading at about 87 pence to the Euro.
