Storm Desmond wreaks havoc as 3,000 homes are left without power this morning

It has been reported that up to 3,000 homes have left been without power this morning after heavy winds from Storm Desmond has battered the West and Northwest coasts overnight.

The ESB say that some 3,000 customers have been left without power and remain without power throughout the morning as crews will be working frantically trying to restore power. The news of the mass blackouts comes after Met Éireann issued a status red weather warning on Friday saying that most parts of Connacht and the rest of the country will experience winds in the region of 125km/h along with heavy rainfall.

Met Eireann also say the status red warning will remain until 3am on Sunday morning.
